Peter Ruis
Buying Director for Fashion
John Lewis
Peter Ruis began his career in high street fashion back in 1989 when he gained a place on Marks & Spencer’s graduate trainee programme.
He undertook various senior Buying roles before leaving in 1997 to join Ted Baker as Head of Product. Peter’s career grew from strength to strength as the Ted Baker brand flourished and he eventually moved to become a Brand Director at Levi Strauss across Europe, Middle East and Africa in 2001. In 2005, Peter joined John Lewis as part of a major restructure, taking on the new role of Buying Director Fashion in 2007. He comes from a very strong product background and his breadth of knowledge and experience filtered through to the John Lewis fashion and beauty floors, delivering some great results. In July 2010, he was appointed to the executive board as Buying and Brand Director, taking responsibility for Buying, Marketing, Design, Retail Design and Manufacturing.
