Eric Musgrave
Former Director General
UKFT
The UK Fashion & Textile Association promotes, encourages, supports and connects companies from the entire sector, making it by far the most inclusive of all fashion and textile industry bodies. Having joined UKFT in January this year after a 30-year career as a trade journalist, Eric Musgrave has been chief executive since May.
His last full-time job in journalism was as editorial director of Drapers during 2000-2006 and he is re-positioning UKFT in the same way as he re-positioned the magazine during those years. In October UKFT moved to new modern HQ at 3 Queen Square, Bloomsbury.
Since Eric joined in January, the UKFT has devised and launched the Let’s Make It Here database, a free-to-use online resource within www.ukft.org that lists production units that still manufacture apparel fabrics, components and clothing in the UK, as well as listing fabric finishers and other processors. This long-overdue service has highlighted that there still is a viable production base in the UK – it’s just that not enough people are aware of it, or know how to find a domestic manufacturer.
